Gog and Magog: a Speculation

"The Dudes"

Gog is not Russia, and Magog is not Moscow.  Gog is a man.  He is the same man who is called "the king of the north" in Daniel 11.  This man, "whose look was more stout than his fellows" (Daniel 7:20), is called a "little horn" in Daniel 7:8.  The Apostle Paul calls him "that man of sin...the son of perdition" (2nd Thessalonians 2:3).

Now, what is Magog?  It's been said that the land once known as Khazaria--today known as Georgia--was also known as the land of Gog and Magog.  Russia has nothing to do with Gog and Magog!

Could the war between Georgia and Russia that took place in 2008 be of significance to the prophesied final war involving Gog and Magog?  And what of Nato?

If we see that Nato members Turkey and Georgia (and the Ukraine?) are listed in Ezekiel 38 as being part of the army of nations led by Gog, then we are led to conclude that Nato is a sinister organization.

And what of the "thousand years" (Revelation 20:3), at the end of which Gog and Magog are let loose?  Well, we are in the thousand years right now!  In order to properly interpret the thousand years you need to look back at the Old Testament.  Look at Psalm 50:10: "For every beast of the forest is mine, and the cattle upon a thousand hills".  Here you see that the number 1,000 does not literally refer to 1,000 hills--but rather that there are many hills all over the world and God owns all of them and the cattle that happen to be on any of them.  Likewise, the "thousand" in the "thousand years" is not specifying a literal 1,000 years.  Rather the thousand years is speaking of a long period of time, in which we happen to be right now (all of which is the last days); though I feel we are near the last of the last days.

More to come in part two.
